Did Meghan Markle help Prince Harry open up about his mental health issues?

Prince Harry revealed that he have faced serious mental health issues after his mothers passing in 1997. Did Megan Markle help the Prince open up?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry each other next spring, Clarence House announced today.

The royalty and the Suits-star have been dating since summer 2016 and secretly got engaged earlier this month. Now they are set to marry at a big splash of a royal wedding next year.

Prince Harry opened up earlier this year about his mental health issues following his mother's, the late Princess Diana, passing. Prince Harry was 12 years old, when his mother died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

“I can safely say that losing my mum at the age of 12, and therefore shutting down all of my emotions for the last 20 years, has had a quite serious effect on not only my personal life but my work as well,” the prince revealed on the podcast, Mad World.

“I have probably been very close to a complete breakdown on numerous occasions when all sorts of grief and sort of lies and misconceptions and everything are coming to you from every angle.”

The Prince, fifth in line to the throne, also told that he was "on the verge of punching someone" and therefore took up boxing because "being able to punch someone who had pads was certainly easier.”

Rumour has it, that Prince Harry's relationship with Ms. Markle have helped the prince, who said that he "good place" now.

Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, is a social worker and ‘yoga therapist’ and Ms. Markle could have picked up her mother's open attitude to mental health issues and self-help culture. Meghan recently ran the lifestyle blog, the Tig, on which she frequently posted inspirational posts on her social media account.

“In a society that profits from your self-doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act.” one post said.

“Meghan has had a profound influence on his life. Everyone believes they will go the distance,” a source close to the couple told MailOnline.

Prince Harry received widespread praise for stepping forward with his mental health issues.

"Prince Harry speaking so candidly is a true turning point that shows that as a society we must no longer adopt a “stiff upper lip” attitude and that we need to talk openly about mental health," Paul Farmer, chief executive of mental health charity Mind, said.

"The prince have done more to raise awareness in a 25-minute interview than he had in a 25-year career. He has a reach across the world that people like me can only dream of" said Simon Wessely, president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists,
